“I read this wonderful book to my daughter and we both absolutely loved it! Gorgeous description of Mokoto's world under the sea and we were both laughing at his adventures on land -gathering all his food in the supermarket and not realising he had to pay, feeling repulsed by broccoli and being entranced by a picture of himself! We also loved the helpful seagulls. It's a gripping adventure and a clearly shows how dolphins don't belong in captivity. Fantastic story.” Amazon UK

“My ten year old thought this book was fantastic! She's all about saving the dolphins and loves all things magical so it was perfect for her! She was sat there laughing at loud at some points!” Amazon UK

“My boy kept his his head in this book for 2 days until he'd finished it. Very exciting story and he really enjoyed it.” Amazon UK

One balmy, summer morning, Mia, a tenacious twelve-year-old girl, discovers a merman called Mokoto washed up on the beach in her seaside town. She and her family help Mokoto rescue a pod of dolphins, including Mokoto’s best friend, from the local dolphinarium, then strive to get him back to the safety of the ocean, all the while endeavouring to keep his identity as a merman hidden from sight. However, a host of malevolent characters stand in their way, and once news of Mokoto's existence is broken, the odds of escape are suddenly stacked against them. In the midst of the drama, Mia discovers that her family has an age-old connection to the merpeople, which only strengthens her resolve to devise a masterful plan to save the day and reunite Mokoto with his loved ones.

Mokoto’s once peaceful existence in The Coral Kingdom jars with the hectic complexities of life on dry land and he struggles to understand the ways of the legpeople. After being uncomfortably pushed around in a shopping trolley, set upon by a fish-obsessed dog and hounded by the media, he can’t wait to get home, but finds solace is his passion for strawberries and tea and the loyalty and support of his new friends.

This touching, funny, action-packed adventure highlights Mia’s moral aptitude in the face of unjust situations, as she trusts her instincts, takes calculated risks and embodies an innate sense of integrity that runs in her proud, ocean-loving family.
